When they don't do any kind of back bitching.
When their eye actually mean what their words are delivering.
When they genuinely become happy by seeing others getting more successful than them.
When they proudly accept their religion.
When they are same inside out.
When they deny to cave in front of peer pressure.

I have a Muslim friend called Farhan.
I’m going back to the time when we were only beginning to become friends.
At that point, I had some strong opinions regarding other Muslims that I knew and told him how I thought that Islam didn’t treat their women right.
When I’ve seen people expressing negative emotions about a different religion, the other party almost always gets super offended.
Farhan? Not at all. In fact, he agreed with me on several points that I mentioned that I’m sure would’ve offended my other Muslim friends.
Once we were discussing Hinduism and I was enlightening him with Hindu customs and beliefs.
He was fascinated, and not just that, he even decided to add reading the Bhagavad Gita to his reading list.
I was surprised.
Pleasantly so.
Farhan’s a Muslim guy who does his prayers every day. But he’s open-minded enough to know and believe that delving into another religion does not make him a non-Muslim.

Being adaptable to keep oneself happy.
It is a trait that not only allows you to be happy in the worst of the situations but also make the life of others around you a little bit better. There are people who can stand by the vast sea and complain about the humid weather whereas there are others who might look for a slight hint of light within a dark room.
I believe that there are times when we feel miserable and it is human to feel so, but letting that feeling hover over you and cringing about it day in and day out will only have worse effect.

Without thinking about it at all, I admire people who are optimistic, hopeful, kind, empathetic, intelligent, honest, fun and funny too!
I also admire people who are open about their feelings and able to show it.
I admire people who are forgiving but aren't a pushover either. I don't like that kind of weakness.
Strength is an important quality but strength comes in many forms. The strength that matters to me is strength of character not physical strength.
One of the most important qualities for me is that a person can admit when they are wrong. I can't and won't deal with people who think they are perfect.

The people who function on logic.
The problem-solvers. You give them any situation and they will break it down into logical pieces and simplify it to you in no time.
They make you see that the problems which you were considering as mammoth can actually be easily solved if you change your perception and think more logically.
They are so uncomplicated and aware that this is the situation, these are the pros and cons, these are favourable options, these can be the outcomes and so these are the steps to follow to reach them.
They don`t fret over issues. Advices from such people are often worth it because it either gives you a way to your solutions or a way to think towards solutions.
Its rare that somebody can be so obxtive and unambiguous.

Empathy.
Sympathy undoubtedly is an essential quality, enabling us to comfort the other person. But empathy provides the person reassurance that he/she is not alone and, there is someone who can understand exactly what he/she is going through.
The ability to smile and believe when things are not going your way.
Politeness.
We cannot have enough of politeness in the world. It is probably the most important quality in human beings, which often goes unnoticed and unappreciated.

I am not a perfect person. Neither do I intend to be one (I cannot be even if I try very hard. I wonder who would :) ). But over the time I have realised, that life can be lived the fullest if I can become a person with all the qualities that I have narrated here. I would love to become that kind of a person. Also I would admire the same in other people. Of course, these are my personal opinions and any kind of criticism is always welcome. :) So here I go:
1. Be Honest. People who can talk about their failures or wrong doings with almost the same amount of ease as they would while narrating some of the big achievements of their lives, tend to make themselves more approachable. I have seen people getting embarrassed while talking about certain examinations which they did not do well in or hiding about past relationships to their new girlfriends/boyfriends. Well they need not be! It is okay to fail in examinations or relationships. The person you are talking to has not had a perfect life either. No one's life is perfect. So shred all your inhibitions and come out. If the person you are talking to cannot take your failures in their stride may be is not worth making friends with anyway. Your true well wishers will never judge you for your failures. So never lie.

Sincerity: There’s nothing better than a person who does something out of genuine interest and not to impress people, to do for their college applications, to do to look smart, etc.
Patience: Often the times, I seem very aloof and detached. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could be patient with me and anybody else instead of probing for my secrets when I just met them or trying to pull me out of my safety closet.
Genuine Kindness: This for me is the easiest to tell through what a person says or thinks. Almost everyone likes a person who is truly kind in their heart and not for personal gain or satisfaction.

I like people who:
First do no harm. People should take a neutral, but compassionate and kind position when dealing with anyone. Remember that your expectations and biases are your own.
Keep an open mind. Everyone is an individual. Listen, accept, and don't judge too harshly. People can be wrong, people can be right, and people can make mistakes. You are a person, too. Try not to apply the cognitive bias that tends to sway human thinking.
Stop and think. Before you do anything, have the self-control and common sense to count to ten as many times as needed before you do something. Even in a emergency situation, a split second decision is built on weighing what needs to be done subconsciously. The least you can do is apply the time you have to good consideration, before you speak or act.

We all have unique experiences, yet we share the same world. Because we are not alone, we must learn to live with others. Because we cannot fully understand anyone but ourselves, we should not judge others. Rather, we should accept that we all face the challenge of living and growing, and honor the variety in the human experience. Based on our own experiences, we can delve into our souls and try to become better people. As we begin to understand ourselves, the parts of us that are inherent in being human, and what makes us uniquely ourselves, we can start sharing our experiences with others. In sharing, we may receive support and encouragement, and also give our support and encouragement to others. We can try to gently guide others toward understanding themselves, and at the same time learn even more about ourselves.
We can't know everything, we can't be perfect, and we can't live forever, but at least we can spend our lives putting our best foot forward in each moment, earnestly listening to and learning from ourselves and others.
Life is full of teaching and learning. Some people talk but don't teach, and some listen, but don't learn.

I always admire people who refrain from standing on the middle grounds or who choose not to remain neutral. Passersby are the worst breed of all.
When I was 15 year old, we, I and my mother were going to my maternal grandmother's home. That area was famous for its dacoits. It is filled with jungles. We were in a car. A car overtook us and 5 min later it hit a tree. By the time we reached there, I could see the bodies crawling out of the car, but we didn't stopped at that time. Mom was terrified, I was in fear and even the driver was shaking. We drove forward without stopping.
This incident is of last year. I was planning to go to home town. I booked a taxi, as I was in no condition to go by bus or train. A bus overtook us on road and it got overturned at some distance. We reached at that spot. I got out of car immediately and helped couple to passengers to come out. Even got a bit of hand scratched by glass pieces, served them with bottle of water. A bit later, many vehicles passing by, stopped and helped the people. Police also came there in 20 minutes. I went back home realizing I have finally changed myself.

While some very successful people once set their goal to be married, have kids, money etc, but they forget about fun.
I have a friend named Igor, and he once told me about his grandfather, he was 97, he smoke all day, he drinks everyday too, not the kind of drinking to death mind you, one day on a camping trip he saw a log on the river, he jumps up on it and played like a children, he fell, broke his leg, he died few months later, his old age could not fix the broken leg.
At 97 he still acts and have fun like a child and that's admirable.
NEVER FORGET ABOUT FUN!

The most important qualities for me are honesty, humility & a good sense of humor. I find it's easy to connect with people who have humility as they are more approachable and easy to talk to. Honesty is also important as I feel I can trust honest people. A good sense of humor endears people to everyone else & helps to break the ice faster.
